How We Keep Soft Flooring Tiles Perfectly Flat

The soft flooring tiles are favored for their comfort and shock-absorbing properties. However, compared to hard flooring tiles, the foamed composition of soft tiles leads to slight thickness variations, and with the elasticity of the foam, joining the tiles can result in visible seams, producing noticeable joint marks that affect the overall visual consistency of the flooring – a common concern for users. Unlike a one-piece construction, an assembled mat made from soft flooring tiles has weakened support at the seams, which cannot distribute weight evenly. Over time, repeated compression may cause deformation, bringing about uneven seams, exposed gaps, or other surface irregularities.

As a result, soft flooring tiles are rarely seen on the market, and even the few products released so far have not been widely adopted. The challenge of overcoming the limitations inherent in the joined construction of soft flooring tiles-ensuring that the assembled mat maintains a consistently flat surface and evenly distributed pressure at the joints- has long been a highly anticipated solution in the market.

In response to these issues, with years of experience in soft material development and extensive trial-and-error testing, we successfully created a joining mechanism specially for soft tiles, which is protected by a utility patent.

The core design of this joining mechanism is a set of interlocking corners on the underside of each tile’s top surface, with corresponding protruding and recessed locks on both sides. When installed, the corners interlock with the corners of adjacent tiles, serving as an alignment mechanism and allowing tiles to join at equal heights to create a consistently flat mat surface. Meanwhile, through the Beveled Overlapping Connection mechanism, the tiles maintain a parallel and complementary in shape, ensuring that support at the seams is not compromised and that pressure is evenly distributed across the mat. Even under long-term, repeated use, the assembled mat maintains overall flatness, preventing seams from sinking, edge deformation, or uneven height, thereby fully enhancing the overall performance of the mat and flooring.
